Trinity School Careers
At Trinity School we are committed to delivering high quality CIAG for all students. We aim to provide students with essential skills and knowledge to make effective career choices, understand progression routes and support a smooth transition post 16 and post 18. As students reach milestones in their education, we provide a wide range of support and materials to ensure that realistic and informed decisions are made.
Trinity staff work with students across all year groups to ensure that careers is part of the curriculum and contributes to personal development. This will be delivered to students through subject lessons and in form classes.
We aim to share relevant knowledge and experiences to relate to students and support their decisions moving forwards. We provide 1-1 Careers Interviews, workshops with employers and up-to-date information on current opportunities.
The Gatsby Benchmarks
Our careers programme is driven by the Gatsby Benchmarks, made up of 8 elements:
| 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 |
| A stable careers programme | Learning from career & labour market information (LMI) | Addressing the needs of each student | Linking curriculum learning to careers |
| 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 |
| Encounter with employers and employees | Experience of workplaces | Encounters with further & higher education | Personal guidance |
We are continuingly working hard to implement and achieve each benchmark. Further information available using the button below.
SECTION 1- STUDENTS
The Options Process
In Year 9 you will decide which subjects you would like to study in Years 10 and 11. We understand at this stage, you may still be unsure of what you want to do in the future. It is therefore important that options are chosen based on interests, skills and abilities. You should also consider how different subjects may help you in the future. Further information is available in the Key Stage 4 Handbook (Curriculum > KS4 Options Booklet 25/27).
Post 16
The decisions you make in Year 11 can seem daunting, especially if you are still unsure of what it is that you want to do. It is important to explore all pathways and identify which opportunities they could lead to. Remember, focus on interests and abilities but be careful not to restrict yourself. If you have a clear career goal in mind, be sure to do your research- what subject or pathway is going to help you achieve this? All students will have the opportunity to access a 1-1 careers appointment in KS4.
Post 18
Our wide range of support continues throughout Sixth form. You will hear from guest speakers, participate in workshops, visit a university and have the opportunity for 1-1 appointments with the Careers Advisor. Your post 18 options include but are not limited to:
•Apprenticeships (including higher and degree level)
•University
•Employment
•Gap Year

SECTION 2- PARENTS & CARERS
We strive to provide students with a wide range of knowledge and opportunities to support effective career decisions however, we recognise that parents and carers play a key role in this journey. We hope that by working together students will feel fully supported throughout the process.
Helping your child to navigate their future can be a difficult task and we don’t always have the right information to do this. I would like to draw your attention to this new website from Cumbria Careers Hub. A really useful resource to help parents navigate the careers landscape and offer valuable informed advice on their child’s next steps.
SECTION 3- EMPLOYERS
At Trinity School we appreciate that deciding on a career path is not always an easy task. We aim to provide our students with as much information as possible to support important decisions and career choices. If you would like to be part of our careers provision please contact Miss Gosling- Careers Advisor. Further information can be found in our Provider Access Policy.
Sharing your industry knowledge with our students can be crucial in supporting their choices. Hearing from you directly could help to inspire students and encourage them to pursue their career goals. We aim to provide relatable and meaningful experiences for our students and you could help us to achieve this.
Activities that you could support us with include:
- Work Experience (Y10 and Y12)
- Assemblies
- Workshop
- Careers Fairs
- Workplace visits/trips
SECTION 4- TEACHERS
We can motivate and inspire students by helping them to understand the relevance of each subject when transferred to the workplace. We can also open their eyes to the wide variety of careers available within each subject area.
SECTION 5- WORK EXPERIENCE
In both Year 10 and Year 12, we provide an opportunity for students to undertake work experience.
