Student Testing Information

Dear Parent/Carer

It has been confirmed that any student who has tested positive in the last 90 days should not have their LFD test at school at the start of term.  Instead, they should resume their twice weekly tests at home as soon as they can.  If you had given permission and your child was coming to school for the test there is now no need to come.  You do not need to let us know in advance.  Students in Year 7 and 12 should attend for photographs and biometrics as stated in the letter sent last week even if they are not having the test.  Students who are coming for a test should  bring a face covering to wear in the test centre.

Many thanks.

Year 12 Welcome Letter

Dear Students, Parents and Carers

I hope you have a good enjoyable summer break are looking forward to the start of term.  I thought it might be helpful if you had some useful information prior to next week.

Please refer to the letter Ms Hawkin sent out recently with regards to the dates for Covid testing.  It is really important that consent is given, please see Ms Hawkin's letter with regards to this.  Please note times for photos and biometrics on Thursday 2nd September.

The Year 12 Induction sessions will take place on Friday 3rd September from 9.30am until 2pm, please note a change to the finishing time.  During these sessions students will receive information about our expectations, how the 6th form operates as well other key bits of information and timetables etc.  There is also an opportunity to meet form groups.  There will be no subject lessons during this day.

Normal lessons will start on Tuesday 7th September.  Students need to be in school for 8.25am at the latest as lessons start at 8.30am.  Lessons finish at 3.05pm.

Other useful information.
  • Students can change subjects until Tuesday 28th September.  Following this student's must continue with all subjects during their 2 years in the Sixth Form.  Please note staff will assess students with in-class assessments during the first 3 weeks in September.  We may require students to change subjects where significant concerns are raised.
  • The Year 12 Tutor Evening will take place on Thursday 23rd September.  This is an opportunity for parents and carers to discuss how students have settled into the sixth form with form tutors.
  • The Year 12 Parents Evening will take place on Thursday 14th July.  This is an opportunity for parents and carers to discuss student progress with subject staff.
  • Year 12 End of Year Assessments will take place week beginning 20th June 2022.
  • There is no uniform in the Sixth Form, but we do have a dress code, more information on this will be given during the induction sessions.  To help with a positive start to term, smart casual means;  jeans, hoodies, jumpers, polo shirts, t-shirts, blouse, appropriate knee length skirts etc are all fine.  We do not allow cropped tops, t-shirts with offensive slogans, ripped jeans, joggers or hair colours that have been dyed an unnatural shade e.g orange, blue, green etc.
  • Mobile phones should remain in bags during all lessons and private study sessions unless the member staff gives permission.  Students can use mobile phones at break and lunch time.  Please note this is different from the approach in the 11-16 part of the school.
  • Students must remain on school premises at break and lunchtime.  Hot and cold food and drinks can be purchased in the Bistro and many students bring packed lunches.
  • Students should bring a folder with a pencil case with the usual equipment with them.  A pad of lined paper is also useful, but staff will provide paper where appropriate.
  • Timetables will be given out at the start of term.  Please note that we will need to adapt timetables during the first half term to add private study session or enrichment activities.  Therefore, please do not book fixed times for driving lessons etc during school hours.
  • Students should speak to form tutors in the first instance where any issues arise.  Mrs Robinson and Mrs Crickett (6th Form Pastoral Tutors) are also available most days from 8.30am until 4pm.
The sixth form staff will be back in school from Wednesday 1st September to answer any queries.

We look forward to seeing you all next week.

13th Of May 2021 Parents/Carers Letter

13th May 2021

Dear Parent/Carer
As half term approaches, and infection rates drop to the levels that were last seen in August, we are reviewing our safety procedures in light of recent changes to government guidance. There are changes from Monday 17th May regarding face coverings and we expect that there may be further changes as the roadmap set out by the government is followed. I wanted to write to let you know what that means for Trinity School and to give some updates and information for the remainder of the summer term.

Year 11 Final Day Letter 2021

7 May 2021

Dear Parent/Carer,
At this time of year we would normally be in the midst of the final push towards GCSE exams, but of course the last 18 months have been like no other, and so Mrs. Armstrong and I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on the plans for Year 11 over the next few weeks. Since the announcement in February and our return to school in early March, we have focused on ensuring that all students have been able to demonstrate the level that they are working at, in order for us to submit teacher assessed grades to examination boards. We have been so impressed by the mature attitude and determination shown by Year 11, and fully believe that they will all achieve the grades they deserve this Summer.

Easter Letter

31 March 2021
Dear Parent/Carer
The Spring term has flown and in school we cannot believe that Easter is here this week. The Year 7 Art Club have been prolific in their spring decorations and the good weather has lifted the spirits. It has been good to see students benefitting from being outside at break and lunch, the sixth form and years 8 and 9 have made good use of the canopies we installed over the Christmas break.

We are very proud of the way in which students have helped each other on their return.....Read More

Parental/Carer Letter 050321

5th Of March 2021

Dear Parent/Carer
As we approach the return next week, I have a few final reminders to share with you.

Lateral Flow Device Testing
Thank you for your overwhelming support for the testing next week. So far 1485 parents/carers have agreed to having a test, 90% of the school community. With the three tests performed in school, home testing to follow and face masks in class for a limited period, we are confident that these extra measures will ensure a safe return to face-to-face learning. There is a link here to a video which you can share with your child. It shows a member of staff coming to the Sports Hall and having a test. This should help to reassure students about what to expect next week.

Parental Letter - Return to School

Dear Parents/Carers

Return to school – week beginning Monday 8th March
This is the first of a number of communications this week about the return to school. I felt it important to let you know as soon as possible which day your child will be tested and which day they will return to school. We will send a further two letters this week as follows:

1. Updated information about Lateral Flow Testing – this will give the times for each tutor group, how the test is done, what will happen afterwards, how the result will be sent home, more about consent, information about school transport and anything else that we need to tell you about.

2. Updated safety information for the return to classrooms – we will send the details
we sent in September with any new guidance included, including the wearing of face coverings in classrooms.

A summary of the plan for return is in the pdf below, with all year groups back in school by Thursday 11th March

Parent/Carer letter 12 Feb 2021

12 February 2021

Dear Parents/Carers
I am glad we are coming to the end of another half term with few students in school. We look forward to hearing the announcement on 22nd February about the return of schools and to see more students in the building before Easter. Of course, once the announcement is made, we will need to work through any updated guidance to see if the safety measures in place in the Autumn term have changed. It is also likely that we will need to test all students on their return, possibly twice.

CCC Covid-19 Information

Dear Parents and Carers,

11 November 2020

Please read the letter below from Cumbria County Council on COVID-19:

This year continues to be very challenging for families and for schools. COVID-19 has meant disruption to pupil’s education and significant changes to how schools are run. As the virus has spread around the county many schools have had to take action because of confirmed COVID-19 infections among staff or pupils. Sometimes this has required whole schools to close for a period, but more commonly small groups or ‘bubbles’ have been required to selfisolate at home.

Compulsory wearing of face coverings

Dear Parent/Carer

Compulsory wearing of face coverings from Thursday 5th November 2020

I wrote to you before the holiday about the school’s policy on wearing face coverings linked to the government’s Covid-19 alert level system. This was in light of the increasing rates of infection in the Carlisle area and the likelihood that we would move into a higher tier. As you know, Carlisle moved into the High Alert Level (Tier 2) on Saturday 31st October. The government’s current guidance to schools is clear that schools in any area in Tier 2 or higher, students should wear face masks:

“When an area moves to the local COVID alert level ‘high’ or ‘very high’, in education settings where year 7 and above are educated, face coverings should be worn by adults (staff and visitors) and pupils when moving around indoors, such as in corridors and communal areas where social distancing is difficult to maintain. As in the general approach, it will not usually be necessary to wear face coverings in the classroom, where protective measures already mean the risks are lower, and they may inhibit teaching and learning.”

You can read the full government guidance by following the link below:

LESSON EQUIPMENT

This time of the year is a good time for students to stock up pencil cases - a fully stocked pencil case helps with revision and alleviates a little exam stress!

Students need to bring pens (black, red, blue and green biro) pencils, a ruler, a rubber, a protractor and a pair of compasses. They will also need a calculator for every maths and science lesson. Highlighter pens are particularly useful for revision.

Please ensure that your son/daughter has the correct equipment. Thank you.
