BRITISH ARTISTS WORKSHOP
AT KINGMOOR SCHOOL

For our work experience, we were given the amazing opportunity to organize and provide a workshop for Kingmoor Junior School’s year 5 students about British identity and what it means to be British. We looked at a range of contemporary British artists including: Banksy, Lauren Child, Antony Gormley, Ed Fairburn, Peter Quinell and Justine Smith. These artists each used very different techniques, such as stenciling, collage and illustration, which gave the children the chance to learn new skills. These artists’ styles influenced and inspired their individual pieces of bunting which will be hung as a permanent exhibition in the school. We were stunned by the children’s marvelous outcomes and their attitudes towards the project. Working with the children was a wonderful experience, with many great memories being made. We feel that this day was a massive success and would like to say a big thank you to both Mrs Reay, and everyone at Kingmoor Junior School for giving us the opportunity to deliver this workshop, and for making us feel so welcome.
