Proposed change to lunch time arrangements and end of school day
As you will be aware the school has grown in size over the last four years due to a high demand for places; successful appeals for admission in 2014 created an extra form of entry which has continued each year since then. The school building was designed for 1500 students and currently we have just over 1700. One of the consequences of this is pressure on our dining facilities; there are lengthy queues to use these and they are crowded. We are very conscious that lunchtimes are not the most pleasant experience for students……

In a move to ensure that standards of recording homework are consistent across the school, we would appreciate it if you could reinforce the following with your child/children when signing their planners on a weekly basis. All homework must have these key pieces of information recorded in the planners:
- Subject which set the homework.
- Details about the task to be completed.
- Due date for the homework.

This time of the year is a good time for students to stock up pencil cases – a fully stocked pencil case helps with revision and alleviates a little exam stress!
Students need to bring pens (black, red, blue and green biro) pencils, a ruler, a rubber, a protractor and a pair of compasses. They will also need a calculator for every maths and science lesson. Highlighter pens are particularly useful for revision.
Please ensure that your son/daughter has the correct equipment. Thank you.
